THE USE OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING TO IMPROVE INTERCULTURAL-COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE

Abstract

Intercultural communicative competence has become widely known as in language teaching education, hence, nowadays ways improving ICC in English classroom is prioritizing. Ten steps of Stoller (1997) is considered to be an effective tool of PBL which can create opportunities to improve intercultural communication competence. In order to maximize the benefit of PBL in the classroom, researchers suggest to create tasks by relying on Stoller’s (1997) ten steps of PBL. Each task of the guide is based on PBL essentials, at the same time tasks are closely interconnected with ICC main elements as: respect, tolerance, curiosity and authenticity. This article attempts to present the role of ICC in our society and how it can be culminated through project-based learning.
